Abstract

Berbicara tentang pendidikan, kita semua pasti sudahtahu bahwa pendidikan memiliki arti yang sangat penting dalamkehidupan ini. Hal tersebut telah menjadikan pendidikanmemiliki ruang lingkup yang luas dan menjadikan pendidikansebagai element yang berhubungan langsung dengan hidup dankehidupan manusia. Pendidikan kemampuan ( skill) danpengetahuan (knowledge) merupakan salah satu modal yang harusdimiliki oleh setiap individu untuk dapat hidup di zaman yangserba sulit. Di mana pendidikan ditengarai sebagai dasarkesuksesan bagi individu dan masyarakat, baik kesuksesan dalambentuk kemandirian diri maupun kelompok ataupun kesuksesanyang lain.Tetapi dalam perkembangannya, pendidikan yangmenekankan pada kemampuan dan intelektual dianggap olehsebagian pemikir pendidikan belum mampu menyentuh aspekaspekpokok dari pendidikan itu sendiri. Sehingga membutuhkansuatu system pendidikan yang lebih komprehensif dan meliputisegala segi kehidupan. Oleh karena itu untuk mencapai tujuanpendidikan yang lebih komprehensif Jhon Dewey menawarkansuatu system pendidikan yang diharapkan mampu menutupikekurangan yang selama ini mengalir lembut dalam systempendidikan yang ada.
