Abstract

Az-zaman dalam kajian bahasa merupakan salah satu bagian pembahasanilmu al-Nahwu. Secara definisi az-zaman memiliki keterkaitan yang erat denganpembahasan dalam dirasah al-shiyagh al-fi’liyah atau pembahasan bentuk-bentukverba. Az-zaman dalam pengertian fi’il sebagaimana dikatakan oleh para ahlinahwu adalah segala yang menunjukkan suatu kejadian yang berhubungan denganwaktu kejadian. Selain itu Az-zaman juga berkaitan dengan tarkib al-jumlah untukmengetahui hubungan kata-kata secara kontekstual.Dalam telaah sintaksis semantis bahasa Arab, az-zaman memiliki fungsidan peran sebagai penentu waktu dan aspek terjadi suatu kejadian. Tandakewaktuan dan aspek dalam struktur sintaksis Arab dapat dilihat dalam konsepaz-zaman (tense), kemudian al-jihah (aspect), tauqitiyât, dan al-muqârib. Kata az-zamândengan vocal panjang menunjukkan waktu terjadinya pekerjaan, sedangkan kataaz-zaman dengan vocal pendek menentukan aspek suatu kejadian. Konsep waktulain yang memiliki hubungan dengan suatu kejadian dalam struktur sintaksisbahasa juga ditunjukkan oleh tauqitiyât dan al-muqârib.
