Vol. 20 No. 1 (2025): At-Ta'dib Journal of Pesantren Education

Volume 20, Number 1, 2025 of At-Ta’dib: Journal of Pesantren Education presents ten scholarly articles that deeply explore various dimensions of pesantren education through philosophical, historical, cultural, curricular, and leadership innovation perspectives. The opening article discusses the construction of the body of knowledge of pesantren education from philosophical, historical, and curricular standpoints. Subsequent articles examine strategic issues such as the role of pesantren cultural values in shaping professional teachers, an analysis of the thought of Imam Al-Murtadla Az-Zabidi, and the internationalization vision of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor from a transnational theory perspective. Leadership and organizational commitment in the pesantren context are analyzed through educational psychology approaches, followed by innovative developments such as digital e-books to strengthen students’ digital literacy based on pesantren cultural values. Character education is also highlighted through the study of Arabic language textbooks, along with strategies for enhancing digital literacy in modern pesantren. Equally interesting, this issue explores the role of English in multilingual pesantren education, as well as a pragmatic analysis of santri gestures and the values conveyed through kiai's teachings in the film "Sang Kiai." Notably, the contributing authors in this issue come not only from various higher education institutions in Indonesia but also from countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Spain, Pakistan, and Burkina Faso (West Africa). This international contribution reflects the expanding reach, growing appeal, and global relevance of pesantren education within contemporary academic discourse.
