REPRESENTASI PEREMPUAN DALAM FILM MOANA

Abstrak  Film animasi Moana menyuguhkan pemahaman baru mengenai citra diri perempuan  tidak hanya ditunjukkan dengan melakukan pekerjaan domestik dan rumah tangga namun dapat memiliki mimpi lain. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan representasi perempuan dalam film Moana dan memberikan edukasi tentang pengetahuan kesetaraan gender.  Dalam penelitian ini, metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis wacana yang dikembangkan oleh Jager & Maier dan ditinjau dengan teori representasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Moana direpresentasikan sebagai perempuan  yang pemberani, aktif, enerjik, dan mandiri. Konstruksi lain yang coba dibangun dalam karakter Moana bahwa she’s not superwoman karena keahlian dalam melaut tidak didapatkan melalui sihir namun ia terus berlatih dengan orang profesional. Film ini dapat membuka wawasan baru bagi penonton khususnya bagi anak, bahwa perempuan  cantik tidak hanya mereka yang tinggal di kastil, diperlakukan sebagai princess, dan melakukan kesibukan layaknya wanita.   Abstract  This animated film (Moana) presents a new understanding of women's self-image not only demonstrated by doing domestic work and household but can have other dreams. This article aims to describe the representation of women in the film Moana and provide education on the knowledge of gender equality.In this research, the analytical method used is discourse analysis developed by Jager & Maier and reviewed by representation theory. The results of this study indicate that Moana's character is represented as a courageous, active, energetic, and independent woman. Another construction that tried to build in Moana's character that she's not superwoman because of her skill in going to sea is not obtained through magic but she keeps practicing with professionals. This film can open new insights for the audience, especially for children, that beautiful women not only those who live in the castle, treated as princess, and do the bustle like a woman. ÂReferences
