Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript fits the Focus and Scope of ATJ.
  • The research is original and has not been published previously.
  • The text is written in good English.
  • Manuscript is prepared in accordance with author guidelines and template.
  • The manuscript has been completed with a Statement Letter, Turnitin results and List of Reviewers
  • All relevant and updated references need to be provided in the Reference list.
  • Cover letter which introduces the article and explains the novelty of the research needs to be prepared.

Author Guidelines

Guideline for Online Submission

Agroindustrial Technology Journal (ATJ), registered with ISSN 2599-0799 (print) and ISSN 2598-9480 (online), is managed by the Department of Agroindustrial Technology, Universitas Darussalam Gontor. ATJ is published twice a year, in May and November. The journal accepts manuscripts in English only, including:

  • Original Articles (minimum 7 pages)
  • Critical Reviews (minimum 15 pages), including tables and figures.

Manuscripts must be submitted at least two months before the publication date.

Manuscript Submission

Authors are required to submit the manuscript in English only through the online submission system, along with the following additional documents:

  1. Cover letter state that the novelty of the research and the manuscript has not been published elsewhere, not under consideration for publication in any journals
  2. Statement letter with following this template: (download here)
  3. List of proposed potential reviewers (2 reviewers). Please send the detail by their email, affiliation address, and their Scopus ID (optional).
  4. A report of plagiarism checker with maximum similarity 20% (using Turnitin)
  5. A manuscript with following template:  download here

On the site, authors are expected to be as detailed as possible in places that are marked with stars in the form. After all the form's text box are filled, the author shall click on the "Register" button to proceed in the registration. Doing this brings them to the online author submission interface, where authors are expected to click on the "New Submission" button. In the Start a New Submission section, click on "'Click Here', to go to step one of the five-step submission process" which include:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: The author needs to add checkmark on the submission checklists and make sure that all the checkmarks have checked in the manuscript’s submission.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to ATJ, select the article component and choose “Article Text”, then click “Upload File” icon and select the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) with max. size 1 MB to be submitted, click the "Continue" button, edit the submitted manuscript’s name (optional), then click “Continue”, upload “Add another files” if there are additional files such as research data files, attached images or tables, esc to complete the submitted manuscript.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission Metadata: In this step, the manuscript title and abstract need to be submitted by copying and pasting the text in the text box. All authors listed in the manuscript needs to be submitted, including the marked corresponding author on “List of Contributors”, including their names, emails and affiliations. Furthermore, keywords and references need to be submitted too in the column below the List of Contributors, then click “Save and Continue”.
  4. Step 4 – Confirming the Submission: The Author needs to final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step (to ensure it is the right manuscript), and then click on the “Finish Submission” button to submit it, and click OK. The corresponding author or the principal contact will then obtain an acknowledgment by email and will be able to view the submission progress through the editorial process by logging in into this journal’s web address site.

After submission, the authors will get a confirmation email about the submission. Hence, authors can track their submission progress by logging into the journal's submission interface at any time. The submission progress tracking incorporates a status of manuscript review and editorial process. General Requirements

  1. The authors must ensure that the submitted articles is authentic and never published in other journals.
  2. The articles that will be publicated in ATJ can be research results, policies analysis, brief communications, opinions, concepts and reviews.
  3. The articles must be written in English using a format that complies with the language rules. The editor does not accept articles which’s not meet the requested requirements.
  4. The published articles determined by ATJ Editors Board based on competent Peer-Reviewers judgment.
  5. The articles sent to editors via Open Journal Systems (OJS). The articles must be written in Microsoft Word and table/figures/graphs in Microsoft Excel. Any difficulties may communicate with ATJ admin contact: +62-85766890141

 

Writing Standards

  1. The manuscript should consist of the following components: title, authors name, authors institution’ full addresses, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements, and references. Institutional address (street, number, city, zip code) and authors email need to write clearly.  It should be written in Times New Roman with single spacing. Margins must be set to 2.5 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right). The article should be formatted in two columns with 0.75 spacing on A4-sized paper and must contain a minimum of 3,500 words.
  2. The articles should be typed using Microsoft Word software, Figures using JPEG or png format. The standard font is Times New Roman 12.
  3. Binomial or trinomial (italic) latin nomenclature is used for plants, animals, insects, and diseases. The full chemical name is used for the compounds at the first mention.
  4. Measurement unit used is International Standard (IS).
  5. The writing of decimal numbers is using point (.).

 

Articles Writing Procedure

  1. Title

The title should be concise, specific, and informative, accurately reflecting the content of the article. It must not exceed 20 words and should be written entirely in English. The title should use Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold, with each word capitalized, and single-line spacing. The title should be followed by the authors' names, institutional affiliations, and addresses. Include a footnote referring to the corresponding author(s), complete with their mailing address, phone number, fax number, and email address.

  1. Abstract.

Abstract are written in English consists of 250-300 words in one paragraph. Abstract contains the summary of the entire articles, i.e background, goals, methods, important results, discussion, and conclusions. Avoid using abbreviations unless it has been commonly used.

  1. Keywords.

Keywords are written in English, consists of 3-5 words/phrases and arranged by importance and presented at the end of abstract.

  1. Introduction.

In this section, presented a background that is supported by the brief literature, goals, and scopes of research if needed, so the readers can evaluate the results without having to read the previous publications. The literatures used must be truly relevant to the research. The introduction section must be presented systematically and consist of at least 3-4 paragraphs. It should include an explanation of the main issue being discussed (problem statement), a literature review with relevant references, where at least 80% must come from primary sources. Authors are also expected to describe existing methods or solutions, highlight the most relevant previous studies (preferably not older than 10 years), and identify the limitations of prior research

  1. Materials and Methods. 

This section contains technical and detailed information, so the experiment can be repeated as well by other researchers. If special equipments/instruments are used, it necessary to provide the specifications and operating conditions. The methods section needs to include:

  • The objective, design and setting of the study
  • The characteristics of participants or description of materials
  • A vivid description of all conducted processes and methodologies, which involves using generic names. Besides, when proprietary brands are used in study, the brand names are required to be included in parentheses.
  • The type of statistical analysis employed, including a power calculation when appropriate such as the statistical softwares used.
  • Studies that involve human participants, or data or tissue from animals need to provide statement on ethics consent and approval.
  1. Results and Discussion.

This section contains data (in short form), data analysis and interpretation of results. The discussion is carried out by linking it with other theories or research to support the interpretation of existing data or results. This section can be divided into several subsections, but there is no need to include the numbering. The title of the table and numbered sequentially according to the text. Data presented in average form is equipped with Standard Deviation (SD) or Standard Error of Mean (SEM) in tables or figures. The data is in the form of statistical analysis with information related to the sampling procedure, repetition, and statistical methods used.

  1. Conclusions and Recommendations

The conclusion should be written concisely in paragraph form, effectively summarizing the main findings of the study.

Recommendations should be clearly stated, providing actionable guidance for relevant parties to implement.

  1. Acknowledgments

This section can be used to appreciate funders, institutions, and personals who assisted during research and articles preparation.

  1. References

The References section should include only the sources directly cited in the manuscript. Avoid overloading the manuscript with unnecessary references, excessive self-citations, or an overabundance of citations from the same region. Each reference must be carefully checked against the original source to ensure accuracy, including the authors' names, volume, issue, and year.

A minimum of 25 references is required, comprising a mix of journals, conference proceedings, theses/dissertations, books, book chapters, and patents. Minimum bibliography of 50 for review papers. At least 80% of the cited references should come from journal articles published within the last 10 years. The References section should be formatted according to the APA 7th edition format. and arranged alphabetically without grouping by type (e.g., books, journals, newspapers). If a source has a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), it must be included.

Reference management software

For Authors who use Mendeley Desktop are allowed to easily install the reference style for this journal by clicking the following link: http://csl.mendeley.com/searchByName/?style. Moreover, the author will be able to select this style using Mendeley plug-ins or LibreOffice when organizing the manuscript. All cited publications in the text need to be presented in a list of references after the manuscript's text. At last, the manuscript needs to be thoroughly checked to confirm that the spelling of authors' names and dates are exactly the same in the text as in the reference list.
