Abstrak Terjadi sebuah hubungan yang problematik antara remaja dengan media massa. Media memiliki empat fungsi to educate, to infom, to persuade, dan to entertain. Namun di sisi lain media seringkali menularkan pengaruh buruk yang mendegradasi sisi-sisi kemanusiaan dan kemampuan berpikir remaja. Efek buruk media massa tersebut kemudian melahirkan gagasan yang disebut literasi media atau melek media (cerdas bermedia). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan dan menganalisis tahapan literasi media di kalangan mahasiswa guru Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa kualitatif deskriptif. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara semistruktur dan observasi sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh melalui dokumentasi dan literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi media mahasiswa guru sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini berada pada tahap evaluasi. Pada tahap ini audiens memiliki kemampuan berupa menghubungkan antar pesan media yang diterima dengan pengalaman, audiens memiliki hak prerogratif dalam memaknai pesan media untuk dirinya sendiri. Adapun 3 (tiga) diantaranya sudah mampu melakukan content creation. Abstract There is a problematic relationship between adolescents with mass media. Media has four function to educate, to infom, to persuade, and to entertain. But on the other hand the media often transmit bad influences that degrade the sides of humanity and adolescent thinking ability. The bad effects of the mass media then spawned an idea called media literacy. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the stages of media literacy among “mahasiswa guru†of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. Primary data is obtained through unstructured interview and observation, while secondary data obtained through documentation and literature. The result of the research shows that the media literacy ability of “mahasiswa guru†as the subject in this research is at the evaluation stage. At this stage the audience has the ability to connect between media messages received with experience, the audience has a prerogrative right in interpreting media messages for himself.
