Abstract

Penelitian bukanlah aktivitas biasa, tetapi merupakankegiatan ilmiah yang sejak pengajuan, proses hingga hasil harusdapat dipertanggungjawabkan secara ilmiah. Artikel ini cobamenguraikan beberapa pokok penting yang harus diperhatikandalam penelitian. Kepekaan menangkap masalah merupakanawal dari kegiatan ilmiah ini, sementara cara mengenali masalahjuga memiliki peran yang penting. Setiap masalah yang telahditemukan akan memiliki konsekuensi metodologis tersendiri,artinya pemilihan metodologi sangat tergantung pada karakterstikmasalahnya. Untuk menjawab masalah, suatu penelitianberpegangan pada data, maka karakteristik data dan caramemperlakukannya juga sangat menentukan model penelitian.Sementara perlakuan terhadap data sangat ditentukan oleh teoridan paradigma ilmu yang digunakan. Maka, sekalipun bersifatpraktis, kegiatan penelitian itu ternyata memiliki sandaranteoritis, logis dan paradigmatis.
