Dalam konteks pendidikan, guru sebagai salah satukomponen mikrosistem pendidikan yang sangat strategis danbanyak mengambil peran di dalam proses pendidikan secaraluas. Bahkan guru merupakan penentu paling besar terhadapprestasi belajar siswa. Tidak ada usaha inovatif dalam pendidikanyang dapat mengabaikan peran guru, lebih-lebih bagi negaraberkembang seperti Indonesia yang sarana prasarananya terbatasdan secara geografis wilayahnya sangat luas.Artikel ini mencoba untuk memaparkan persoalankompetensi, sertifikasi dan prospek Fak. Tarbiyah pasca UUGD.Karena begitu urgen dan strategisnya peran guru, makapenanganan guru harus dilakukan secara sistematik, sistemik,kelembagaan dan terpadu antara pihak lembaga penghasil(LPTK), pengguna lulusan, dan pihak yang berkewajiban untukmembina, mengawasi dan Menjamin mutu guru. Oleh karenaitu, menarik untuk didiskusikan bagaimana dampak UUGDterhadap peningkatan kualitas guru.
