Speech Acts Analysis of ‘Bilal: A New Breed of Hero’ Movie

Abstrak

Film is one of the mass media in the form of audio-visual that can convey messages effectively. One of the animated films that has educational values in developing Islamic-valued children's characteristics is the film Bilal A New Breed of Hero. The animated film uses English so that it can train children in learning English which is Islamic and virtuous. This study aims to find actions and sayings of Islamic value uttered by the main character in the film Bilal A New Breed of Hero. This research is a discourse/text-based study based on speech acts in declarative, imperative, and interrogative aspects. Data collection was carried out by looking for the main character's distinctive sayings which contained education in the film Bilal A New Breed of Hero. The results of this study classify utterances based on declarative, imperative, and interrogative and show the meaning of each utterance of the main character which contains the values of Islamic education.
