Abstract

This research aims to analyze how framing is done by both media outlets in reporting on Al-Aqsa Storm Operation. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-comparative method. The analysis technique used is Robert N. Entman's framing model, which consists of four main elements: problem definition, cause identification, moral evaluation, and solution recommendation. The research object includes eleven news articles, 6 from Republika.co.id and 5 news articles from Kompas.com, published within a week after the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques. The research results show that Republika.co.id frames the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation as a form of Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation, using diction that highlights the struggle and suffering of the Palestinian people. Meanwhile, Kompas.com tends to highlight the escalation of the conflict and its general impact, focusing on the humanitarian aspects of both sides. These differences in framing are evident in the choice of titles, source quotations, and the moral perspectives used by each media outlet. This research concludes that media framing is heavily influenced by editorial orientation and the values they uphold. Republika appears to be more pro-Palestinian struggle, while Kompas strives to maintain a neutral position with a focus on humanitarian aspects.
