This research discusses the strategic role of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in political dynamics through the contestation of Pilkada in East Java, focusing on the Islamic communication approach applied. As the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, NU has a significant influence on the formation of public opinion, political communication patterns, and mass mobilization in the local political arena. This research explores how
NU utilizes Islamic communication principles, such as da’wah bil hikmah, justice, and togetherness, to build an effective strategy in supporting certain candidates. Implicitly, NU has a higher position than parties in the political arena. In the context of political communication, the existence of NU cannot be separated from the role of kiai and santri, both in the front stage and the back stage. The research method used includes a qualitative approach with data analysis from in-depth interviews, literature studies, and participatory observation of the dynamics of Pilkada in East Java. The results showed that NU’s approach was not only oriented towards electoral politics but also reflected efforts to maintain social harmony and Islamic values in society. NU uses pesantren networks, religious leaders, and local cultural traditions as strong communication media to strengthen its influence. The research results of the concept of dramaturgy and role-playing carried out by the candidates, creating an atmosphere and conditions of interaction which then give its own meaning to the community. The emergence of this meaning is highly dependent on the social background of the community itself and forms a society that is able to adapt to various atmospheres, patterns of political life.

Keywords: Islamic Communication; Dramaturgy; Nahdlatul Ulama
2025-02-07T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://ejournal.unida.gontor.ac.id/index.php/sahafa/article/view/13189Coping with Culture Shock: Communication Patterns of Non-PMDG Students at UNIDA Gontor2025-01-01T14:29:14+07:00Muzakky Abdillahzackieabdie@gmail.comMaulina Pia Wulandarim.wulandari@ub.ac.idZulkarnain Nasutionzulkarnain@um.ac.id
Abstract

This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of culture shock experienced by Non-KMI (Kulliyatul Mu›allimin Al-Islamiyah) students at Darussalam Gontor University (UNIDA Gontor). Non-KMI students, who come from non-Islamic boarding school backgrounds, face great challenges in adapting to an Islamic boarding school-based campus environment, where Arabic and English are used as the main languages, and high discipline is an integral part of campus life. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, this research explores the adaptation experiences of Non-KMI students by focusing on emotional, behavioral and cognitive aspects. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation related to academic and social life on campus. The research results showed that non-KMI students experienced culture shock in the form of anxiety, confusion, and changes in perception of the dominant cultural values at UNIDA Gontor. Behavioral aspects also include difficulties in adapting to congregational worship procedures and the use of Arabic in daily communication. This research identified several factors that cause culture shock, such as differences in communication patterns, lifestyle, and lack of social support from the surrounding environment. However, through effective communication strategies, such as building intercultural communication skills and increasing social interaction, Non-KMI students can adapt better to campus culture. This research provides practical insights to support the adaptation process of Non-KMI students in Islamic boarding school-based educational environments and offers suggestions for strengthening cultural orientation and cross-cultural interaction programs at universities.

Keywords: Communication Patterns; Cultural Adaptation; Intercultural Communication
2025-02-07T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://ejournal.unida.gontor.ac.id/index.php/sahafa/article/view/13247Community Information Group as Village Public Relations Media: An Islamic Communication Approach in the Digital Age2024-12-05T11:56:37+07:00Nindia Galuh Prismadaninindiagaluh@student.uns.ac.idAndre Noevi Rahmantonindiagaluh@student.uns.ac.idSudarmonindiagaluh@student.uns.ac.id
Abstrack

This study aims to determine the role of the Community Information Community (KIM) as public relations at the village level which is oriented to disseminate accurate information through internal discussions first and has the aim that the community around the KIM area where researchers will discuss Biting Village, Ponorogo can actively participate. Radio Suara Gontor FM (Suargo FM) as a Boarding School-Based Radio in the Era of Convergence2024-12-11T11:33:31+07:00Novalul Barokah Tubagustubagus.novalu.barokah-2022@fisip.unair.ac.id
The rapid development of business models began when numerous studies examined the business environment, which was subsequently supported by advancements in digital communication and information technology. Digital transformation has changed the business landscape for companies worldwide, raising discussions about how technology influences business architecture in various fields such as strategy, business models, organizational management, processes, solutions, technology, and competencies. PT. Radio Suara Gontor FM (Suargo FM) is a radio station owned by Darussalam Gontor Boarding School, located within the Gontor Campus 1, in Gontor, Mlarak, Ponorogo. The aim of this study is to understand the business model implemented by Suargo FM as a pesantren-based radio station owned by Darussalam Gontor. Boarding School. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using field data analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that Suargo FM, as a Boarding School-based radio station, is unlike most other Boarding School-owned radio stations, which are community radios with a business model focused on providing broadcasting services for specific communities with a primary goal not centered on profit. Since its inception, Suargo FM has operated as a business radio station with a wide broadcast coverage area aimed at proselytizing and education while also generating profit. However, Suargo FM is not entirely profit-oriented (money oriented) because the teaching and educational approach of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor does not view material wealth as the output of education. In the era of media convergence, Suargo FM has transformed into digital radio as a form of adaptation to the development of information and communication technology.

Keywords: Buseiness Model; Media Convergence; Boarding School-Based Radio; Suargo FM
2025-02-07T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 https://ejournal.unida.gontor.ac.id/index.php/sahafa/article/view/13789Representation of Modest Fashion Values in @ dwihandaanda Instagram Content (Semiotic Analysis Study Ferdinand de Saussure)2025-01-24T11:12:47+07:00Hanna Pithalokahannapithaloka@yahoo.comNadhifa Fatma Alihannapithaloka@yahoo.com
The second largest Muslim population in the world with 281 million people and a potential GDP of USD 5.1 billion per year in the halal economy sector including Modest Fashion.
