Publication Ethics Policy
Mediasi Journal of International Relations

The Mediasi Journal of International Relations is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This policy is guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing developed by COPE and DOAJ. Our goal is to ensure ethical, responsible, and high-quality publication practices that support academic rigor and promote global trust in international relations research.

Editorial Ethics
Editorial Responsibility
Editors are accountable for ensuring a fair, transparent, and timely peer-review process. They must communicate clearly with authors regarding the steps of the submission, review, and publication process.

Editorial Decision-Making
All editorial decisions must be based on the manuscrips academic merit, originality, significance, and relevance to the field of international relations. Personal characteristics or affiliations of the authors such as race, gender, religion, political stance, or institutional background must not influence decisions.

Confidentiality
All information related to submitted manuscripts is strictly confidential and may only be shared with those involved in the editorial and peer-review process. Editors must refrain from using any unpublished materials for personal or professional purposes.

Reviewer Ethics
Professionalism and Responsibility
Reviewers are expected to conduct thorough, objective, and timely reviews. They must provide constructive feedback and maintain professionalism. The review should be written by the assigned reviewer unless the editor authorizes collaboration with another expert.

Objectivity
Critiques must be constructive and free from personal attacks. Arguments should be supported by academic reasoning and evidence.

Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest—personal, professional, or financial—and decline to review if such conflicts exist, including institutional or collaborative ties to the authors.

Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use information from the review for personal benefit and must alert the editor of any suspected ethical violations, such as plagiarism, without independently investigating them.

Author Ethics
Manuscript Submission
Authors may submit original research articles, reviews, and theoretical analyses in international relations. Submissions must adhere to the journals formatting and language requirements (English or Bahasa Indonesia) and be submitted through our online system.

Authorship Criteria
Only those who have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation should be listed as authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed co-authors approve the submission, revisions, and final publication. Contributions from others who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Originality and Citations
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. All sources must be properly cited using APA style. Authors must avoid plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, and accurately attribute all referenced ideas, data, and quotations.

Research Integrity
Authors must present research findings honestly and transparently. Fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, or data distortion to support conclusions is considered unethical.

Plagiarism and Misconduct
Submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin). Confirmed cases of plagiarism, data manipulation, or duplicate publication will result in rejection or retraction of the article.

Data Sharing and Transparency
Authors are encouraged to make underlying data and research materials available through repositories or supplementary files, promoting replicability and transparency in international relations research.

Duplicate or Simultaneous Submission
Manuscripts must not be simultaneously submitted to other journals. Adaptations of theses or conference papers are acceptable with appropriate disclosure.

Ethical Oversight for Human Research
Authors must adhere to ethical standards when conducting research involving human participants, sensitive issues, or vulnerable populations. Mediasi refers to internationally accepted ethical guidelines, including those from the Norwegian National Research Ethics Committees, adapted for social sciences.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research or interpretation. All funding sources must be clearly acknowledged.

Peer Review and Editorial Process
All submitted manuscripts are subject to rigorous, double-blind peer review. Reviewers and editors will evaluate the manuscript's quality, contribution, and alignment with the journals scope. Authors may be asked to revise their work based on reviewer comments.
