REKONSTRUKSI ILMU PENGETAHUAN SYEID MUHAMMAD NAQUIB AL-ATTAS: MENJAWAB PROBLEMATIKA WESTERNISASI

الملخص

This study is titled "The Reconstruction of Knowledge by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas: Addressing the Problems of Westernization." The idea of reconstructing knowledge is a contemporary response to the dominance of modern science by the non-Islamic Western civilization. Westernization is considered one of the main causes of the decline of Islamic civilization, despite the fact that, at the beginning of its history, Muslims were pioneers in the fields of civilization and knowledge. As the political power of Islam weakened, the progress of science in the Islamic world also experienced a downturn. Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas emphasized the need for a reconstruction of knowledge as a solution to the challenges posed by Westernization. Based on qualitative research in the form of a literature review, the reconstruction concept proposed by al-Attas to address the issue of Westernization is carried out through two approaches. First, by purifying knowledge from concepts and values that contradict Islamic teachings. Second, by integrating Islamic concepts and values into the field of knowledge.
