Abstract

This research explores the concept of the "Islamization of Knowledge" proposed by Syed Naquib al-Attas and its applications in political philosophy as developed by Abul A'la Maududi. The main objective is to examine the integration of Islamic metaphysical principles with modern socio-political theories as an alternative to secular approaches. Through critical analysis of the works of al-Attas and Maududi, this study investigates how Islamic principles can reshape knowledge systems and political governance. The methods employed include textual analysis of the primary writings of these two scholars, comparative evaluation of their ideas with Western political theories, and an interpretative approach to Islamic metaphysical concepts such as tawhid, khilafah, and sharia. Maududi's political framework, rooted in Islamic teachings, is positioned as an application of al-Attas's broader vision of the Islamization of knowledge. The findings reveal a strong synergy between the metaphysical foundations of al-Attas’s philosophy and the practical political solutions proposed by Maududi. Both emphasize the centrality of divine sovereignty and reject secular and materialistic worldviews, advocating for a comprehensive Islamic governance system. This synergy underscores the significant potential of integrating Islamic metaphysics into the socio-political realm to address the limitations of Western ideologies.
