Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Ngabar is one of the Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia that places great emphasis on Arabic language and its teaching. By using Arabic-language material books, Pondok Pesantren is the right place for improving Arabic language, so in teaching the material, Pondok uses Arabic language. Pondok strives to improve the language ability and writing skills of students by teaching Insya', but it still faces significant problems in teaching Insya', such as: the material of Insya' is not suitable for the students' abilities and their environment, the number of titles is not appropriate for the teaching hours for one academic year, and the lack of competency standards and basic competencies in each title taught, in addition to the material that has not been structured systematically. Therefore, the researcher tried to develop Insya' teaching materials for the third-grade students of Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Ngabar, based on field research results.   This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) study, in which the hypothesis in this study is that teaching Insya' using appropriate teaching materials and methods can improve the Insya' ability of third-grade students of Pondok Pesantren Wali Songo Ngabar. In collecting data, the researcher used interview, test, questionnaire, and documentation methods. And to analyze the collected data, the researcher used t-test formula. The most important result of this study is that the research results are compiled in the form of a teacher's handbook, which includes materials, exercise questions, teaching methods, and color-coding of language rules and their examples in sentences. After being tested, this prepared book can improve the ability of third-grade students in Insya'. This is evidenced by a significant increase in values for one comparison of the difference between pretest and posttest scores after this teaching material is applied. This teaching material can make it easier for teachers to teach students and help achieve the expected Insya' teaching goals
